6 Reasons to try Ponder Puzzles in 2022

If the past couple of years have taught us anything it’s that having a little time to yourself is actually the tonic we didn’t realise we needed. We learnt new skills, we baked endless banana breads, we wrote, we pondered and lots of us puzzled.

If you’re like me, you probably fell back in love with puzzling over the last couple of years. Revelling in the blissful feeling of hunting for pieces letting your mind pulse between thoughts with no pressure to really be anywhere but here.

Lockdowns might be easing while the pressure to be seen out and about is not. So, I propose that puzzles are still the perfect excuse we all need to cosy up indoors. Here’s 6 reasons why:

They are immensely rewarding.

The act of puzzling is highly rewarding: what starts off as a mess of pieces slowly reduces to a small pile as you work through the puzzle matching sections of the image together. We start with the edges and corners (I mean, what crazy person doesn’t). Our 1,000 pieces are pretty tricky so once you solve them there’s a real sense of accomplishment.

They go perfectly with a podcast, wine (or tea) and some cheese.

Pop on your favourite socks, flick on your Sonos and get ready for the Great Indoors feat. Ponder. We’ve got your Saturday night sorted. And if Podcasts aren’t your thing, each puzzle has a puzzle playlist featuring a curation of songs that springboard-off the puzzle topics. Pretty neat huh?

You’re supporting female artists

Ponder works with rising female artists to bring the puzzles to life. We are committed to giving female artists a platform to share their work and to create a product they wouldn’t have otherwise. So thank you!

You’re nurturing your brain

Puzzling is actually good for your brain. Research has shown that doing jigsaw puzzles can improve cognition and visual-spatial reasoning. The act of putting the pieces of a puzzle together requires concentration and improves short-term memory and problem solving. Why thank you!

You’re connecting with yourself and others.

Our puzzles are aligned to different topics with the intention to help you spend your downtime more meaningfully. We have a number of topics ranging from our obsession with the singular idea of a ‘bikini body’ in “Body Talk”, to our insatiable appetite for more new things all.the.time in “Consumption Culture”, to the rising power of female energy in “In Full Bloom” to celebrating the little things in life in “The Little Things”. They’re the perfect gift for people that have it all…and our packaging is quite simply beautiful too. No need to take them out of the box if puzzling isn’t even your thing!

They’re perfect for a week away.

Sick of over the top drinking games, or found yourself with a week-long holiday ahead and forecast of rain? Be sure to pack a Ponder puzzle to see the day through.
